The Twelfth Annual Wenshan International Conference

Organized by the Department of English & Foreign Language Center, National Chengchi University Taipei, Taiwan CALL FOR ABSTRACTS Conference Theme: Creative Teaching and Research in TESOL   The Department of English together with the Foreign Language Center of National Chengchi University will hold the Twelfth Annual Wenshan International Conference on the NCCU main campus in Taipei, on Saturday, October 24, 2015. The theme for the 2015 Wenshan International Conference is Creative Teaching and Research in TESOL. The TESOL community has always been interested in creative teaching methods; jazz chants, dramas, and multimedia projects, for example, have all had a place in the language classroom. In recent years, there has also been a strong interest in using alternative approaches (Atkinson, 2011) to develop a contextualized understanding of the second language learning process, learner and teacher identity, as well as affordances or constraints of language learning ecology. Through this conference we wish to gather local and international scholars who have pursued such teaching and research interests through, for example, action research, case studies, ethnography, autoethnography, and narrative inquiry to investigate phenomena in formal or informal language learning contexts. We particularly welcome scholars who have conducted research in the following SLA- and TESOL-related topics to join us in the conversation:

  • Language Teaching and Learning of the 21st Century
  • Digital Games/Digital Literacy in Language Teaching and Learning
  • Songs, Stories, Dramas, and Multimedia/Multimodality Projects
  • Intercultural Communication and Culture-related Issues
  • Language Learner/Teacher Self, Agency, and Identity
  • Language Teacher Development
  • English for Specific/Academic Purposes
  • Curriculum Design and Materials Development/Evaluation
  • Language Evaluation, Assessment and Testing
